Encontramos en los centros deportivos de hoy una gran oferta de actividades que, en muchos casos, podr\u00edamos definir como m\u00e1s l\u00fadicas y sociales que saludables desde un punto de vista de condici\u00f3n f\u00edsica.<\/p><p>S\u00ed, esta entrada va dirigida a ti, porque ya a veces has observado y sentido cosas \u201craras\u201d en algunas de estas actividades. Y no me refiero a que la persona que est\u00e9 a tu lado tenga un aro de luz y est\u00e9 grab\u00e1ndose para hacer una entrada en una red social (aunque tambi\u00e9n). Hablo de realizar un ejercicio determinado o una clase colectiva preparada con cari\u00f1o por los profesionales de tu centro deportivo o gimnasio, y llegar a casa con m\u00e1s pena que gloria. Esos dolores que empiezan a acumularse en tus articulaciones, descubrir m\u00fasculos que no sab\u00edas que ten\u00edas porque te molestan, y en general pensar si esa actividad es saludable o no.<\/p><p>Centremos este debate en el ejemplo del CrossFit, tambi\u00e9n conocido como CrossTraining o clase de \u201cEntrenamiento Funcional\u201d. Aunque todo esto es aplicable a cualquier actividad que, aun estando planificada y realiz\u00e1ndose de forma sistem\u00e1tica, no aplique conceptos b\u00e1sicos y saludables de ejercicio f\u00edsico o entrenamiento.<\/p><p>El CrossFit es un deporte de alta intensidad que combina elementos de diversas disciplinas como la halterofilia, la gimnasia y el entrenamiento cardiovascular. Fue ideado en el a\u00f1o 2000 por Greg Glassman y Lauren Jenai en Estados Unidos. Un ejemplo t\u00edpico de una rutina de CrossFit es el \u00abFran\u00bb, que consiste en realizar una serie de thrusters (elevaciones verticales de barra ol\u00edmpica por encima del hombro) y dominadas en el menor tiempo posible. En los \u00faltimos CrossFit Games, el deporte ha atra\u00eddo a millones de seguidores en todo el mundo, reflejando su creciente popularidad y alcance global. Y esto, unido al lema de \u201cNo Pain No Gain\u201d (sin dolor no hay ganancia) que genera, ha hecho que muchas personas hayan dado el salto de no hacer nada a darlo todo. Aqu\u00ed, por no hacer nada nos referimos a no cumplir los niveles m\u00ednimos de actividad f\u00edsica recomendados por la Organizaci\u00f3n Mundial de la Salud, pero esto es otro debate.<\/p><p>\u00bfSabes qu\u00e9 ocurre cuando haces actividad f\u00edsica o ejercicio y, d\u00eda tras d\u00eda, terminas con agujetas? Pues que puedes entrar en un proceso conocido como rabdomi\u00f3lisis, que consiste en roturas constantes de fibras musculares, lo cual crea un estado \u00e1cido en el cuerpo donde se da\u00f1a el h\u00edgado, entre otras cosas. Una investigaci\u00f3n reciente ha mostrado que actividades sin control como el CrossFit incluyen un alto riesgo de rabdomi\u00f3lisis <span style=\"color: #4ecdc6;\">(Gianzina y <span style=\"color: #33cccc;\">Kassotaki,<\/span> 2019)<\/span>. Esto, a ti que te gusta sentirte bien despu\u00e9s de hacer deporte o ejercicio, puede enviarte directamente al hospital.<\/p><p>Y no es que el CrossFit sea m\u00e1s lesivo que otras disciplinas o actividades similares. De hecho, el riesgo de lesi\u00f3n que presenta es comparable o menor al de algunas otras formas comunes de ejercicio, como el ciclo indoor <span style=\"color: #4ecdc6;\">(Klimek y cols., 2017)<\/span>. Pero puede ser lesivo. Varios estudios han mostrado que el CrossFit provoca lesiones en la espalda baja y rodillas <span style=\"color: #4ecdc6;\">(Gianzina y Kassotaki, 2019)<\/span>, pero sobre todo en el hombro <span style=\"color: #4ecdc6;\">(Klimek y cols., 2017)<\/span>. Esto se debe a la cantidad de movimientos de halterofilia para los que no est\u00e1s preparado o preparada para realizar. Y aun as\u00ed, no es solo que los hagas, es que los haces en una situaci\u00f3n de fatiga que conlleva que tu t\u00e9cnica, que ya era mala, sea peor a\u00fan.<\/p><p>Por si fuera poco, hay otro factor interesante a considerar en este tipo de actividades. Y es producto, en mi opini\u00f3n, de una mala distribuci\u00f3n de los objetivos de entrenamiento en cada sesi\u00f3n. Me refiero a enfocar una misma sesi\u00f3n en mejorar tu fuerza y, a la vez, tu resistencia. Esto, que se conoce como entrenamiento concurrente, provoca interferencias en el desarrollo de estos dos objetivos <span style=\"color: #4ecdc6;\">(Schlegel, 2020)<\/span>. Por un lado, mejorar la fuerza disminuye, entre otras cosas, la probabilidad de sufrir lesiones musculares, esquel\u00e9ticas e incluso demencia en el envejecimiento. Por otro, mejorar tu resistencia disminuye el riesgo de sufrir enfermedades cardiovasculares y metab\u00f3licas como la hipertensi\u00f3n o la diabetes. Pero, si combinas su mejora en una misma sesi\u00f3n, esa interferencia har\u00e1 que no mejoren de igual forma ambas capacidades. Lo que no me preocupa en exceso, porque no eres deportista que busca un rendimiento deportivo. Pero s\u00ed me preocupa que se ha observado c\u00f3mo esas interferencias, de nuevo, pueden elevar el riesgo de sufrir una lesi\u00f3n musculoesquel\u00e9tica <span style=\"color: #4ecdc6;\">(Brush\u00f8j y cols., 2008).<\/span><\/p><p>Como has visto, la participaci\u00f3n en actividades o hacer ejercicio de alta intensidad, que implique que tus pulsaciones y dolor se eleven a niveles altos, no tiene por qu\u00e9 aportar ning\u00fan tipo de beneficio a tu salud. M\u00e1s bien, al contrario. Destacan un total de 28 art\u00edculos cient\u00edficos, de los cuales 8 pertenecen al Q1 del JCR, y 12 al Q2-Q3 del mismo \u00edndice. Su \u00edndice H es de 11 en la Web of Science, con un total de 172 citas. De todos los art\u00edculos publicados, se presenta como autor de referencia en 14 de ellas. Adem\u00e1s, 11 de ellas son de colaboraciones internacionales. Fruto de las colaboraciones internacionales destaca recientemente la edici\u00f3n del libro en la editorial Springer, llamado Resistance Training Methods: From Theory to Practice, publicado en el a\u00f1o 2022, contando con un total de 34 autores de alto reconocido prestigio nacional e internacional. Varios de estos art\u00edculos han sido financiados con proyectos de transferencia del conocimiento con empresas privadas. Los resultados obtenidos en estas publicaciones est\u00e1n permitiendo una generaci\u00f3n de conocimiento, que se ve reflejado en la transferencia del conocimiento. De esta forma, esta l\u00ednea de investigaci\u00f3n tiene una profunda vinculaci\u00f3n con su pasado profesional como preparador f\u00edsico de f\u00fatbol profesional, y asesor de empresas de equipamiento deportivo. Fruto de estas experiencias, el Dr. Mu\u00f1oz presenta desde el a\u00f1o 2019 diversos contratos de transferencia del conocimiento a SmartCoach Tech, empresa l\u00edder en el sector de dispositivos de medici\u00f3n en el entrenamiento de fuerza. Los contratos formalizados desde entonces ascienden a un total de 66.950 \u20ac. Debido a estos perfiles, recientemente ha participado en la C\u00e1tedra Telef\u00f3nica, en formato mesa redonda denominada Irrupci\u00f3n de la tecnolog\u00eda en el deporte, como ponente.
